Having spent the last few years releasing a wave of bold and atmospheric electronic offerings, Irish producer Peter Vogelaar
recently returned to deliver his highly anticipated new album ‘Inner Creatures’.
Following in the footsteps of acts like Four Tet, Caribou and Bonobo, the beatmaker channels a diverse mixture of genres and aesthetics to create his signature style. With nods to the sounds of trip-hop, electro-pop and electronica running throughout this new collection, his new record is a smooth and winding journey through the mind of one of Ireland’s most expressive electronic artists.
Speaking about the new release, he said, "Even when you're not physically hands-on working, you're always thinking about it and your creative intuition is always developing it internally"
Although ‘Inner Creatures’ can not be appreciated as a single man’s vision as he regularly worked alongside a number of guest artists to create the new full-length. Pulling in the likes of Deaf Joe, Sacred Animals, Ken Lally and Katie Kim for the release, it has resulted in a varied and eclectic LP that shines with diverse energy.
Adding about the collaborations, "I feel really lucky to work with these singers. I've never sat in a room with someone with acoustic guitars and wrote a song there and then like you see in documentaries. You're working on something and of its own accord the brief changes, that happens a lot I think. Then you run into someone and you realise they are the perfect stepping stone to take it further, and they can ruminate on the track in their own time."
