Every week ROUGH ONLINE in collaboration with Music News and Liberty Music looks at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.
Having been a piano player and DJ in her previous incarnations, Sweden’s Caroline Roxy
has now been making waves as a rising frontwoman and looks to continue that trend with the release of her latest single ‘Animal’. Filled with bold and explosive production, alongside her enticing vocal performance, ‘Animal’ is a thunderous ball-buster of a track that you can’t help but listen to more than once.
Monumental Men – ‘Small Flame’
With the trio already captivating many with their ethereal folk-based electronica, Swiss outfit Monumental Men
continue their adventures in this unique sound with their newest offering ‘Small Flame’.
Coming across as a more experimental Alt-J, this three-piece bring together a diverse array of instrumentation in order to deliver a truly memorable and mesmerising new release.
With her highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Skies To My Name’ arriving later this month, Stockholm-based singer and producer Rebecca Bergcrantz
aka RAINDEAR
looks to preview her next release with wonderfully euphoric ‘Grace’.
With her enigmatic voice coupled with a strong and eclectic backdrop, ‘Grace’ sees her return more comfortable than ever, delivering a bold and emphatic cut in the process.
Demetrius – ‘Black Diamonds’
With a career that includes being a backing singer for the likes of Elton John and Alicia Keys, producer Demetrius Subayar’s recent time emerged in Berlin’s techno scene has given him a new influence on the music he wished to create as he unveils his debut single ‘Black Diamonds’.
Lifted from his forthcoming EP of the same name, ‘Black Diamonds’ sees him take influence from the pulsing sounds of George Michael and Freddie Mercury, all wrapped up in a dense and thumping electronic beat.
Harry Nathan – ‘Songs About Dreams About Her
After the video for this heavily praised single ‘Rooftops’
managed to win itself fifteen independent short film awards, Harry Nathan
now capitalises on his success with the release of his new EP ‘Songs About Dreams About Her’. Featuring his previously unveiled cuts ‘Fool For Your Love’, ‘Sweet Vanilla Sky’ and ‘Timeless Dream’, this new collection sees the frontman in a far more diverse setting, leading into each track with an eclectic and imaginative state.
As an artist that is looking to push the boundaries of his own creativity, London-based newcomer KYRI
kicks off what is sure to be a glittering career with the release of his debut single ‘Red River’.
Channelling the euphoric direction of contemporaries such as Adele and Tom Walker, this new initial release sees the singer croon and swoon his way through a rich and luxurious piano-led composition, capturing our love as it plays.
Ryan McMullan – ‘In The Back Of My Mind’
With his previous singles ‘Bowie On The Radio’, ‘You Don’t Dance’ and ‘Oh Susannah’ amassing more than 8million streams on Spotify over the last few months, Portaferry-based frontman Ryan McMullan
now looks to continue his upward ascent with the release of his new single ‘In The Back Of My Mind’.
With a smooth and sensual vocal performance, backed up by some exquisite guitar work, the singer looks to serenade us with this warm and wistful return.
NAATIONS & Hayden James – ‘Nowhere To Go’
With writing credits for the likes of Marshmello, Anne-Marie, Charli XCX, Purple Disco Machine and more already under their belts, Australian production duo NAATIONS
now join forces with another Aussie superstar Hayden James
on this fun-loving new offering ‘Nowhere To Go’.
Capturing the uplifting and sun-kissed flow of an Australian summer, the trio deliver a uplifting and enticing collaboration just in time for our sunnier months.
Having spent the last year building up her impressive catalogue of tunes, LA-based singer and songwriter Noé
now looks to cement her work over the last twelve months with her new EP ‘ibynoé’.
Including the previous shared cuts ‘Pity Party’, ‘Color’, and Rabbit Hole’, the new collection is being previewed by the newly unveiled ‘I cheated on you’. Written as the first single for this EP, this new jam sees the singer in a more stripped-back aesthetic, adding a more diverse sound for this new endeavour.
