Every week ROUGH ONLINE in collaboration with Music News and Liberty Music looks at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

Cat Burns – ‘Pretty Boys’
Having just released her new EP ‘Naïve’, 18-year-old Cat Burns has shown us that she is wise beyond her years. With singles such as ‘F*ckboy’, ‘Sober’ and ‘Just Us’ shared in the previous months, this new collection now offers up the previously unheard cut ‘Pretty Boys’. As the finale to her new EP, ‘Pretty Boys’ sees the singer adopt a more personal tone, giving us an insight into the more vulnerable her through the guise of fresh and uplifting RnB-laden pop.

Ciara Vizzard – ‘Hurricane’

Following on from the release of her much-loved EP ‘Fearless’ in 2017, Paris-born but London-based frontwoman Ciara Vizzard now returns with her latest insatiable single ‘Hurricane’. Taking her unique and intimate approach to writing and combining it with a bold and vibrant production has given this single an edge most could only dream of, bringing Vizzard’s beautiful sound to higher heights

SuRie – ‘Only You And I’
As a graduate of The Royal Academy Of Music and the UK’s entrant at Eurovision 2018, SuRie has quickly become one of the more captivating names rising through the pop ranks in recent years. Following on from her recent covers LP ‘Dozen’, she now returns with her latest piece of original material ‘Only You And I’. Taking influence of other anthemic female voices such as Florence Welch and Imogen Heap, she swoons and soars through this new release as it builds and swells behind her.

SWAYDAY – ‘Just Like The 80’s’
Described as a modern day Duran Duran, Swedish outfit SWAYDAY have become the latest addition to the ever-growing 80s electro-pop scene with their nod to the nostalgic era, ‘Just Like The 80’s’. With its luxurious bassline and progressive pop swagger, ‘Just Like The 80’s’ manages to bring the retro sound to a more modern audience, filled with bright and catchy hooks throughout.

Rumours – ‘Lights Down’
Having originally grown up across Italy and Norway, the now London-based trio Rumours look to bring their international perspective to their latest offering ‘Lights Down’. Taking the smooth and soothing sound of laid-back RnB and merging it with a strong electronic bed has given the group a emotionally charged aesthetic, creating a wonderfully sensual new release in the process.

The Kelseys – ‘This Life’
With their eagerly-awaited new EP ‘So Little To Say’ expected later this summer, Michigan-based band The Kelseys now look to showcase their glittering indie-pop sound with the unveiling of their latest bouncing cut ‘This Life’. Taking cues from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix, the four-piece deliver a track filled with so much summer sunshine, you will be surprised it never bursts, delivering a much needed touch of joy to any day.

Fushia – ‘Gold’
After the release of their latest single ‘Dreams And Stardust’ captivated and enthralled in equal measure earlier this year, the Danish twin sisters Fushia have now returned to share their beautifully composed new single ‘Gold’. By bringing their uniquely haunting vocals to a bold and warped production, the duo have delivered one of their strongest returns to date, one that will surely become a huge talking point for the sisterly pair.

My Silent Bravery – ‘Hey Miss’
Having adopted the DIY approach to both his musical recordings and promotion over the years, singer-songwriter Matthew Wade aka My Silent Bravery has always been one to tread his own path in the industry. And with his highly anticipated sophomore album on the horizon, he returns with his latest preview ‘Hey Miss’. Taking the folk-pop sound of acts like The Lumineers and adding his own flair to the production has made this new cut a bold and adventurous journey throughout.

Le Youth – ‘Selfish’
With his breakthrough single ‘COOL’ very much still a staple of summertime festivities, Californian producer and DJ Le Youth has now returned with his latest sun-kissed banger in the form of ‘Selfish’. Teaming up with the soaring vocals of Samana, he has once again shared a sensational sunshine-filled anthem that will no doubt become the next soundtrack to this year’s festival season.

boerd – ‘It Fades Away’
With his new EP ‘Misplaced I’ soon to arrive with us, Swedish producer Bård Ericson aka boerd highlights the opening track of his latest collection with ‘It Fades Away’. Coupling his unique orchestral background with sparse and atmospheric electronics, he has delivered a moving and sensual return that likens his sound to the ethereal nature of acts such as Bibio and Boards Of Canada.
