Every week ROUGH ONLINE in collaboration with Music News and Liberty Music Pr looks at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.
Abroad – ‘Alright OK’
Following on from the release of their location specific EPs ‘London’ and ‘New York’, as well as the runaway success of their recent single ‘Home’, indie-electro duo Abroad look to continue their upward ascent with the release of ‘Alright OK’. Taking a page out of Friendly Fires’ book, the pair cook up a bold and blistering return that bleeds rich and atmospheric production throughout.

Katuchat – ‘Together In Delight’
With a rich and diverse catalogue, which has seen him follow in the footsteps of Jamie xx, Burial and Four Tet, French producer Katuchat is back once again with another bold and atmospheric gem ‘Together In Delight’. Collaborating with Montreal-based singer LIA, the pair unveil a smooth and textured electronic offering that breathes haunted and captivating rhythms from start to finish.

Wasted JU – ‘e-girl’
Having already showcased his brash and unconventional direction with a string of instantly recognisable offerings these last few months, US rapper and vocalist Wasted JU breaks out of lockdown with another show stopping release ‘e-girl’. Produced by Sensu, the two spend no time getting into the meat of this record as its 90-second runtime is filled with bold beats and the singer’s in-your-face personality running non-stop throughout.

Collect Call – ‘Rain:Stop’
Having spent the last year releasing a bright and uplifting wave of dream-pop anthems, the Joseph Thorpe fronted project Collect Call now return with their next euphoric delight ‘Rain:Stop’. Taking their cues from the likes of The Beatles, Talk Talk and Kate Bush, this smooth and breezy new jam mixes the soaring sound of psych-pop with a distinctly 80s tinge, giving it a familiar yet distinctive direction throughout.

Splendore – ‘Come Online’
As a regular voice amongst the LGBTQIA+ community for many years now, DJ and producer Splendore is looking to bring a whole new sound to the electro-pop world with his latest single ‘Come Online’. With its sugary sweet pop overtones mashed together with harsh electronics, the beatmaker looks to bring the same explosive direction as SOPHIE and A.G. Cook to his latest alt-pop belter.
