For Fall/Winter 2021, Taipei based women's ready-to-wear designer, RAY CHU, teamed up with artist PIGO LIO in what he calls a 'meaningful collaboration.' for his namesake brand. 'The artist and I have wanted to collaborate for some time, and considering our incredibly diverse global understanding of fluidity, borderless, genderless, the characters depicted are both gay, straight and everything in between,' says Ray Chu.
Titled the CENTIPEDE LOVE, the F/W21 collection is heavily influenced by technology, with a mix of graphics representing the epicentre of sexualism. Does that bare the question, are you sexually centrist or on the side of inclusivity? The artistic depiction of the drawings are both but also neither.
The collaborative artwork is used as the central CGI graphics that manifest the evolving Asian Culture, where sex is hardly a topic of conversation and perceived very private. However, with its CGI graphic, the film depicts that the more modern generations are welcoming themselves and progressing toward a more extensive volubility of sexual exploration.
Sharing his thoughts on the COVID crisis and the effects on creativity, Ray had this to say... 'The pandemic - such a boring topic after so long - has allowed me to push myself to a better understanding of creativity, which is the case for most people in the creative severe. It has allowed us to grow, explore and seek new ways of presentation.
One real reminder that is fundamental to the entire encompasses of the RAY CHU brand's future is sustainability. Vegan leathers presented through CGI, virtually a combination of OLD Vs NEW = THE FUTURE.
