MARY KATRANTZOU Launches 'MARY MARE' Bi Annual Resort wear Capsule Collection

Playing on the word 'collection,' Mary-Mare is inspired by one's desire to collect objects for sentimental value and memorabilia, such as seashells and postal stamps. Mary Katrantzou uses these objects to create nostalgia within her bold patterning and a colour palette of rich, sunny tones that blend into a vibrant, aquatic blue. This collection is beautifully reminiscent of Mary Katrantzou's Greek heritage.

It's a collection defined by day-to-night dresses, accentuated with striking, black detailing and belted waist ties. Conchology is celebrated across ten dresses, with seashells printed onto georgette and cotton voile, while postal stamps from exotic destinations are emblazoned onto cotton poplin, linen, and silk twill. Similar to the vintage postal stamps included in their illustrated Instagram campaign.

Mary-Mare, although designed as travel attire, is also a metaphor for escapism. Holidays tend to exist within their capsule, time outside of our usual routine, and sometimes, outside of our usual selves. Mary-Mare evokes a feeling of longing that comes with dreaming of exotic locations, a feeling that can be summarised in one word as 'wanderlust.'

Within the collection is something entirely new for the Mary Katrantzou brand; there is a range of lycra swimsuits designed in six styles to fit any body type, from capped sleeves, scuba styles to bandeau suits and bikinis. Two Beach towels and three tote bags in seven colours with pattern options marks the first own-branded Mary Katrantzou accessories capsule.
This is a complete resort collection - from clothing to shoes, bags, swimwear, even raffia hats, and silk head scarfs; Mary-Mare allows you to add a style statement to your existing travel wardrobe or reimagine it completely.

Holidays offer us time, whether it be a week or two, to put together a different wardrobe. And, based on climate and a change in activities, this wardrobe is usually completely different from our day-to-day attire. Packing a travel suitcase allows us a fashion liberation and experimentation outside of our usual dress code.
