Since their cover of The Kinks’ 1967 classic “Waterloo Sunset,” the multi-talented, London-based duo Ferris and Sylvester have been so busy that ROUGH ONLINE quite simply couldn’t keep up with them. What with releasing the single “Sometimes,” a beautiful, Country-esque ballad which delivers an emotively choking arpeggio in its’ opening even before Ferris’s effortless heartfelt voice drops and a gorgeous string arrangement, as well as “London Blues,” the stand-out track from their recent E.P “Made In Streatham,” which unpredictably takes you in a Jive rhythm direction with MC-like vocals, and a Jazz-influenced brass section, overall putting a new spin on the innovative genre of all music, you’d think that Ferris and Sylvester would take a little break from all their hard work.

Recently, these two fearless musicians, whom when you hear singing together you quite simply think “thank God they found each other,” have unexpectedly dropped a brand new song entitled “Burning River,” which ROUGH ONLINE are hoping is from an upcoming full-length debut album from the duo, and they have definitely upped their game on this new track for sure. It is bigger and more powerful than anything they have released so far. The masterfully performed vocal flow from higher to lower registers at the end of each line will send you into a Gaelic frenzy, and captivate you instantly with its’ use of slight Mezzo Soprano yodelling, while the choir of men yelling each time the snare is hit, as well as the dirty distortion on the Electric guitar, both bring about the dark undertone of one of Ferris and Sylvester’s best tracks to date. “Burning River” without a doubt falls into the same category of other Alternative Rockers such as Florence and the Machine, and for all the right reasons, one of them being that it is one of the most haunting pieces of music ROUGH ONLINE have heard all year.

“Burning River” is an intense trip, especially when the backing vocals in the final chorus drop, which takes you from an Alt-Rock cave to the solace of a church, sending an instant chill down your spine. It is songs like this that proves how far Ferris and Sylvester’s musicianship skills actually go and you would be so so so crazy to not check out their entire portfolio of well-crafted art they have presented to the people this year. The duo are definitely taking their music to the next level with their new single, so don’t be foolish and stream “Burning River” out now on all online stores.
