A FASHION CONVERSATION WITH LIU YANJUN OF JUNNE

ROUGH ONLINE: Why did you decide to become fashion designer and how did you get started on your journey?

LIU YANJUN: I have been involved in the arts since a young age - painting from aged 4 and winning awards aged 6. I always enjoyed making clothes for dolls and this creativity continued from my youth throughout my life.

ROUGH ONLINE: What influences your designs?

LIU YANJUN:  The inspiration of my designs come from digging into the roots of my idols and following my heart to find a tough carrier.

ROUGH ONLINE: How did you go about setting up your brand and what is the ethos behind it?

LIU YANJUN: After graduating from Tsinghua University, I participated a TV competition in China and become a dazzling star designer. However, due to lack of practical experience, I was facing the failures of entrepreneurship. Then, I learnt knitting in China's knitting base for 5 years. After that, I re-established my business and founded JUNNE in 2016.

ROUGH ONLINE: Can you tell us a bit about your recent collection?

LIU JANYUN: The recent collection is sleek and fluid. It is artistically constructed and skillfully created from the designs to the process of weaving the garments.

ROUGH ONLINE: Do you have any advice for other designers just starting out?

LIU YANJUN: Pay attention to the foundation of brand survival.

ROUGH ONLINE:  What’s next for you and your brand?

LIU JANJUN: Try to be even more artistic innovative, enriching the brand's connotation.
